METCAD Systems Administrator

Then consider applying to be a Systems Administrator at the Metropolitan Computer Aided Dispatch Center (METCAD 9-1-1).   

Responsibilities of Position
The Systems Administrator is part of a team of professionals responsible for ensuring the emergency response and data services provided by METCAD 9-1-1 are available to residents and first responders 24/7/365. This position is responsible for the records management system (Tyler Enterprise Law Enforcement Records), report writing software, and electronic citations (Tyler Enforcement Mobile) system. They are the point person on new software installation, upgrades, and interfaces; user access and permissions; training; testing; troubleshooting; creating system documentation; maintenance; and more. The person in this position works with multiple police user agencies and vendors on system functionality and resolution of software issues, so accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of technical knowledge and ability is a must. The position requires on-call status with 24 hour-a-day responsibilities and the ability to respond in a timely manner during emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Education equivalent to an associate degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.  Completed coursework without a diploma will be considered.
  • Relevant certifications in computer systems management, application support, or similar areas will be considered in lieu of an associate degree.
  • Progressively responsible database or software administration experience including maintenance or support.
  • Experience with software implementation, installation, and/or upgrades.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and maintain working relationships. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and convey to audiences of all technical ability levels.
  • Ability to perform essential functions that require physical agility as noted in the job description, with or without accommodation.
  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting training to end users.
  • Experience with public safety computer systems, applications, and interfaces.
  • Experience working with local/State/Federal public safety government agencies.
  • Experience maintaining multi-layer GIS maps using ESRI or similar mapping software.
  • Experience with SQL Server, Microsoft Excel DSS, Excel SSMS, IIS, and Microsoft Active Directory.
 Drug screening, criminal history record check, and driving abstract will be required.  

Salary and Benefits:
  • Starting annual salary: $75,554 - $83,734, DOQ.
  • Full-time, on-site, FLSA-exempt, non-bargaining unit (NBU) position.
