Medical coders collect, analyze, and manage the information that steers the healthcare industry. Medical coders have an advanced knowledge of insurance and medical claims processing in accordance with professional, legal, and insurance industry standards. At the heart of the profession’s information responsibilities are records, both computer and paper based. Medical coders orchestrate collection of many kinds of documentation from a variety of sources, monitor the integrity of the information, and ensure appropriate access to the individual record.
Prerequisites:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Proficiency in English (reading, writing & speaking skills)
At least 18 years of age
Hand-to-eye coordination and finger agility
Suitable vision, normal or corrected
Immunizations & background check
No prior criminal offenses. Please note that employers will perform a background check on applicants.
