The Central Illinois Human Resources Group presents a workshop for the business community, especially HR and Hiring Managers, about veterans:
From Service Member to Supervisor: Human Resources' Role in Helping Veterans Transition into Corporate America

More than one million military personnel are expected to transition to civilian life in the next few years and so the job market will see more candidates with military based.

Human Resource professionals struggle to translate military experience into qualifications they need to fill open roles in their organization.

Veterans struggle to explain how their skills and experience translate into the civilian world.
In this hour long presentation, Sabrina Baker will discuss human resources role in helping veteran candidates transition from soldier to supervisor – or whatever open role fits their background.

Key Learnings:
• Attendees will understand how to manage perceptions regarding veteran candidates including an in-depth discussion on the realities of PTSD
• Attendees will be given numerous resources for translating and understanding military experience
• Attendees will be given ideas suitable for creating, implementing and accessing a veteran hiring program
• Veteran candidates bring highly sought after skills to our workplaces. As more and more enter the candidate pool the need for human resources to effectively assess those skills and find an appropriate fit will become of increasing importance.

About the Speaker
Sabrina Baker, PHR is the founder and CEO of Acacia HR Solutions, a human resource outsourcing, consulting and recruiting firm located outside of Chicago, IL. Sabrina was a human resource leader for eleven years before starting her own business in 2011. She serves on the Illinois Society of Human Resources Council board and holds the position of Annual Conference Chair. She is also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) press team and is a regular contributor to their We Know Next blog. After experiencing her own layoff in 2010, Sabrina became very passionate about helping job seekers find work. Through her business and volunteer efforts she makes helping people find jobs a priority. Sabrina was named one of the Top 100 HR Influencers to follow on Twitter via the Huffington Post in 2013 and one of the Faces of Recruiting and Staffing by HR Marketer in 2014.
