Matt will discuss:
-What is adaptive change?
o Adaptive change is change that moves beyond technical intervention, that requires new learning for an organization and its leaders to survive, thrive, and/or excel. Adaptive moves often mean the problem itself isn’t clear until some moves have been made, and where things end up may not be fully clear for a while.
-Building Change Capacity in An Organization
o How do you not only work through THIS change, but make future changes more possible
-The Vulnerability of Adaptive Leadership
o Leading adaptive change often starts with admitting “I don’t know”
-The Orientations and Practices of an Adaptive Leader
o Leading with Why; Process over product; Emotional Intelligence; Orchestrate Conflict; Run Experiments
Who is the target market?
1. Executives and Owners of businesses
2. Boards of Directors
3. Nonprofit Executive Directors / Board Chairs
4. Mid-level directors / managers with a high degree of independence for budget/management
5. Professional Service Firm partners/professional staff
6. Businesses shifting from founder to second generation or family businesses making a generational turn (of any generation).
Why would it appeal to Chamber members?
Leaders are experiencing intense and complex challenges in a rapidly changing culture, political, market, and workforce environment. These changes tend to require more skill at adapting to new conditions rather than mere technical expertise. Many executives and owners are experiencing these conditions and their training and experience to date may not have equipped them explicitly to deal with these situations. This seminar could help leaders see the capacities they do have when facing adaptive change, as well as gaps they may need to fill as they move in to new territory.
Matt co-owns an organizational design and development firm specializing in adaptive challenges and has practiced in the firm since 2010, and the field since 2005. The firm itself is experiencing the same kinds of adaptive challenges other firms face, so not only does Matt help clients work through these challenges, he also lives them himself.
The cost to attend this seminar is $19 for Chamber members and $39 for non-members.
To register, please email Caryn Isenhower or call 217.359.1791. Registration deadline is 5pm on April 18, 2018.
