SUMMARY:A.L.I.C.E. Active Shooter Training
DESCRIPTION:This training covers the acronym A.L.I.C.E. Alert\, Lockdown\, Inform\, Counter\, and Evacuate. It is designed so that each person in your organization has the ability and authority to make the best decision they can\, based on factual information\, to survive an armed intruder. Deputy Chief Tod Myers will discuss each principle to (a) find out what is currently being used and (b) provide suggested alternatives\, if appropriate. The goal is not to suggest any changes to your current procedures but rather provide additional protocols or tactics that your organization could consider for implementation.\n\n\n\nDeputy Chief Tod Myers started at the Champaign Police Department in 1993.  During his career\, he has been involved in a variety of functions within the department to include Crime Scene Technician\, a member of and later the team leader for the Hostage Negotiations Unit\, a field training officer\, the field training coordinator\, and later the field training commander.  In 2013\, he was introduced to the ALICE concepts and attended the ALICE instructor course.  Since attending this course\, he has provided training to public and private school as well as local businesses around Champaign County.   He serves as one of the primary instructors for the department.
